Owner, Jeff Christenson comes from a family with a long history of home building.
His great Grandfather, Axel Christenson migrated to America from Sweden as a gifted cabinetmaker. His Grandfather Harold Christenson built single residential homes as well as large commercial buildings. Then his father, Ken Christenson built high end single family homes along with condominiums and commercial buildings.
At the age of twelve Jeff worked with his Father and his Grandfather at "Christenson Homes And Development" during the summers cleaning up job sites and organizing lumber piles. It did not take long for Jeff to convince his Dad to let him "pound nails". Between 1975 and 1980 Jeff worked for his Father learning the carpenter trade from master carpenters Dick Klauer and Russel Lovell. Jeff took a year off from his Fathers construction company due to a poor economy and he moved to Denver Colorado where he worked for a cabinet maker. They built cabinets for commercial businesses. In 1981 Jeff returned to the Quad Cities and resumed as a carpenter for Christenson Homes and Development while doing his own jobs on the side.
Jeff volunteered to be a house captain with the Hearts and Hammers Organization for a four year period. Jeff also gave a lot of his time helping out Habitat For Humanity. In 1992 Jeff said it was time to start his own business and Christenson Carpentry was born. Since then Jeff has built several homes and room additions along with numerous small projects. Throughout his career, Jeff has had a love for the art of woodworking. In 2001 Jeff built his wood shop in Coal Valley Illinois where he currently creates custom cabinets. |
